Mr Powell Continued, “This was the first time that we allocated time for one-on-one meetings as part of our agenda and I believe that this really added to the open platform agenda that makes the ArtCAM User Group so unique.”
The ‘what’s new’ portion of the User Group focused primarily on previewing the completely new interface in ArtCAM 2010, which received extremely positive feedback from the users that attended.
“I was very impressed with the ArtCAM 2010 interface. Being able to customize my menus means I can hide rarely used commands, freeing up space for better visualization of models being designed. Well done ArtCAM!”
Mark Williams, High Tech Laser (www.htlaser.com)
With a few simple demonstrations attendees could instantly see how ArtCAM 2010 allows its users to paint or draw directly in the 3D view and then use these areas to add height and shape to their design. Without the need to refer back to a 2D image as in previous software versions users could see that this new release not only speeds up the overall design time but also the time required for any later modifications, ultimately increasing customers’ productivity.
“I’m really looking forward to the next release of ArtCAM 2010. The addition of the new machining enhancements from Delcam’s PowerMill combined with the new multithreading technology will undoubtedly speed up the calculation times for creating and editing our toolpaths. The new interface upgrade in 2010 will give us the ability to fully customise the layout of icons and windows and significantly improve work flow and efficiency in all of our modelling applications.”
Brad Devereaux, Engraving Technologist, Advanced Engineering Research, Royal Canadian Mint (www.mint.ca)
Edward Powell admitted that, “It was great to see users from a variety of new industries such as music and entertainment along with a number of re-attending users from woodworking and jewellery. The one-on-one session not only gave the users the opportunity to ask us questions but us the more time to understand how our users interact with the product in their specific industries. The diversity of industries that ArtCAM continues to be introduced is very impressive.”
Through the generosity of Delcam’s partners a number of door prizes were donated at this year’s event. If you would like to find out who the prize winners were and the prizes that they received please click here.
